The Eternity of the World

„Upon the altar of the perfecting of general humanity, very many and mighty human sacrifices have been offered, but the glorious future will wipe away all the tears.”From Chazon HaTzimchonut veHaShalom

The following is shocking, but we must understand it: the world perfects itself and advances from its calamities. It learns the hard way the things it fails to understand because of hatred rooted within it, or deep failings that do not allow it to recognize in real time the disaster it is creating. When Rabbi Akiva sees the Temple destroyed, he knows that it will be rebuilt in the future - just as, after the burning of a forest, every sensible person knows that new buds will yet sprout and grow. For the world has learned and improved. But alongside this, the "tuition" is at times terrible and hard.
