The Secret of Existence

„Existence in its totality is without any sin; sin is found only in the value of the particulars.”From Shemonah Kevatzim II:151

One of the most difficult understandings that Rav Kook emphasized in the world is the understanding that in the general plan there can be no errors. The world continues to move - the burning of a forest brings about the renewal of the soil and the landscape in the course of time. War moves borders and opinions, and it is a gateway to peace and renewed agreements. A collective missing of the mark leads in the end to a new development. This is hard because of the fact that on the individual level people are shattered - dying, God forbid, or bearing their wounds and injuries for many days. But on the general level, so long as the world continues to move, the sin and the missing of the mark are found only in the particulars, and the whole creates movement out of every blow.
