The Israeli Adolescence
„We have a tradition that a spiritual rebellion will take place in the Land of Israel and among Israel at the period when the beginning of the nation's revival awakens to come... until a storm comes and overturns everything, and it will then be seen plainly that the strength of Israel is in the eternal holiness.”From Shemonah Kevatzim 2:248
Rav Kook wrote at the beginning of the previous century about a process that recurs in our national revival. The people of Israel return to their land, its adolescence and self-identity arrive, and accordingly the rebellion begins, whose essence is self-definition. If we are not frightened by the adolescence of our people, we will be able to see the immense beauty growing out of this independence, and the love of God present within our nation. The astonishing power of our people we encounter and see on the battlefield and in the places where we meet one another truly, without masks.
