Everything Begins With You

„A single individual must find himself within himself, and afterward he finds himself in the world surrounding him — which is his society, his community, and his people.”From Shemonah Kevatzim 8:46

We often define ourselves through the eyes of society. We put on the glasses of those around us and impose upon ourselves the way others see us. Even the repair we do in the world may be dictated by need, and not by an inner truth. Rav Kook tries to define goals in the opposite way. We must define ourselves — understand the gifts we received from the Holy One, blessed be He, and through them change the world. After we understand the "personal" gift, we will be able to discover a world. To repair a world. To love a world.
