„How goodly are your tents, O Jacob, your dwellings, O Israel.”

„How goodly are your tents, O Jacob, your dwellings, O Israel.”

"The tent and the tabernacle are the two names of the dwelling-place, which may be made ready for journeys... The tent denotes the movable foundation... and the tabernacle denotes... the restful foundation that exists between one journey and the next" (Olat Re'iyah).

Every person needs a tent and a tabernacle... A *tent* is the possibility of wandering — to find ourselves in one of two: a place and a direction, placing ourselves at the disposal of the world and its movements and fluctuations. It is the place where we allow ourselves to change. A *tabernacle* is the place where we stop. We look back, to the sides, and upward. We rest. In a person's life there are moments of tent and moments of tabernacle. The tent should not make us frantic from constant motion, nor should the tabernacle make us anxious from the lack of motion. Both movements are blessed. "How goodly are your tents, O Jacob, your dwellings, O Israel."
