Mishpetei HaRav Kook / To Educate Love
„To place deeds first, so long as the spirit is foreign and destructive, is of no benefit. Rather, gradually one must draw the hearts near and draw them also toward deeds.”From LeNevuchei HaDor 43
How does one educate? Rav Kook places the primary emphasis on the spirit. The central thing in education is not one specific act or another, but the constant showering of love. And when there is love, desire arrives. And when there is no love, and the demands come detached from the spirit and as a list of obligations, a terrible disconnection is created. This is true within our own home in every kind of education and guidance, and it is true for our entire generation.
