„All the insolence and heresy that come into the world come to demand…”
„All the insolence and heresy that come into the world come to demand justice for the affront to matter, from the men of form who exaggerate, who do injustice to matter by nullifying and persecuting it, whether in its practical or its theoretical aspect.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 590
There are "righteous ones" who try to mend the world through stringencies. When the matter is personal — this is blessed. But when the stringency and pressure are imposed upon another, there is in this an immense danger and great harm. Of course, one must distinguish between a stringency and a measure of piety, and things perceived as stringencies that are in fact the basics of Halacha. Either way, it is fitting and right that each person be strict with themselves, and above all set a personal example.
