„so a little about the importance of aesthetics and of the beautiful Seder table”
What is all this Seder for? What is all the trouble and all the food for? Why do we even read the Haggadah at a table of food, and not do it in the synagogue or after the meal in a normal manner?
The Seder night is a night that puts things in order (seder) for us, showing us ways of life that will lead us on a correct and upright path.
On this night we sit together with our family; the children are the center on this night (and for those who have no children, I have already written a few days ago that the child within us is the center), and through them we open up basic questions.
The foundation of life is our ability to conduct our day-to-day life in a natural way connected to the Holy One, blessed be He.
The ability to sit around a table that broadens the heart (and the belly :-) ) gives us the possibility to convey the sublime feeling of this evening through all the senses — through the sense of sight (aesthetics), through the sense of taste and smell (food), through the sense of hearing (the Passover Haggadah), and through the sense of touch (also here around the food, and also around the tangibility that we give to this evening through skits and the like...).
When we succeed, through work on one hand and our ability to be free on the other, to connect all these feelings, we will be truly free and truly connected to ourselves and to the Holy One, blessed be He.
Have a pleasant rest of the day, everyone!
For the recovery of David ben Malka.
God willing, tomorrow there will be a last post before Passover; during the intermediate days of the festival we will go on a short vacation and return immediately afterward (perhaps we will send something on the eve of the seventh day of Passover).
