„Among all the evil traits there is no trait that makes a person as coarse—to the point that he cannot elevate his spirit to the glory of spirituality—as arrogance. (Pinkas HaDapim, IV, 38)”
In every trait there is a middle line between good and bad—a kind of balance that we need. In all of them, except for one trait: arrogance. Arrogance is an evil trait. It stops up our ears and shuts our eyes and causes us to see only ourselves while the whole world is erased. It prevents us from advancing and developing, and causes us to live a wretched and miserable life. It is a trait that clips the wings of the spirit that a person has, and prevents him from advancing.
The trait of arrogance is one that we must wage a war of annihilation against, and its damage is absolute.
