„When one looks truly at the good side of everyone, a person comes to…”
„When one looks truly at the good side of everyone, a person comes to be loved by others with an inner affection, and he has no need for any dust of flattery.”From Orot HaKodesh, Vol. III, p. 324
In recent days I have been walking around with a very difficult feeling on account of the various events connected to the settlement enterprise, both on the part of the settlers and on the part of the state and the media.
I have thought much about what Rav Kook would have done had he lived in these days, how he would have conducted himself.
It seems to me that the Rav would have been very saddened by the situation that has arisen, by the division that has come about within the people of Israel - division between one and another, division between a people and its land, and division between a people and its Torah.
But above all it seems to me that the Rav would have shaken himself free from the bonds of sadness and tried to seek ways to rebuild anew. Part of this way passes through our relationship to the other.
When we look upon our fellow, upon our friend, in the good measure that he has - and this even though it may well be that he has many bad traits and only one good trait - when we focus on the positive place in others, we will succeed in loving them in an inner and true way, and thus they too will love us. The longed-for connection will be created precisely if we succeed in focusing on the good point, on the positive light.
A good point and another good point will create a whole edifice of love and good.
The good point that I want to cast into the space is a page of kindness on the internet, "Mishpetei Rabbi Nachman of Breslov," a page with wise and upright sayings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, whose books were on the Rav's table and whose teaching was studied by the Rav.
And another good point is the wonderful song by Shuli Rand that is attached.
A good evening to all!
