Will and Fear
„From excessive fear the will is weakened.”From Shemonah Kevatzim VI, 129
There is a fear that gives birth to responsibility, and there is a fear that gives birth to paralysis. When fear takes up too much space, our ability to have an effect is weakened. It paralyzes, and when it dominates, the will fades. A person stops truly wanting. He begins to fear himself, the forces within him, the desires within him, the possibility that he will fail. But the soul is not built on fear. It is built on will, on trust, on the ability to fall and to rise. On a deep understanding that we are human beings, and that part of the game of life is to remain such. Not angels, but human beings who learn. The ability to advance cannot include within it paralysis, but rather love and will, alongside boundaries that help love and will to grow.
