Confusion
„There is a time when the world becomes so confused that a person cannot find his own standing and worth, and he wanders and moves from one course of study to another.”From Orot, Yisrael veTechiyato 23
In the past, it was very clear to a person what his path in life was. Often he was dropped into it and thus absorbed, and learned, and continued, and passed it on. But in our generation, and Rav Kook already saw the buds of this in his own generation in the fields of Torah study and in the choices among the various types of learning, there is a confusion that brings great happiness. People are unwilling to enter predetermined categories, and they seek to taste, to be confused, and to choose. This is harder, on the one hand, but it causes a person to touch the root of his soul, and thereby to bring the world to a better place. This confusion is not only personal; it is bound up with the movement of the whole generation. To a period before redemption. In which the world betters itself and refines itself.
