A Great God

„When the divine perception is small, then the image one forms of the Divine is also small.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, II 126

When our God is a frightening and terrible preacher, that is the image we will go with. And when our God is the world in its fullness, that is the image we will go with. Rav Kook explains that the broader, deeper, and richer our conception of the Divine is, the more immense and great is its significance for all of our lives. When we educate our children that the Holy One is only a good grandfather, or only a frightening preacher, they are liable to perceive Him as such. And we must educate ourselves, our children, and the world that the Holy One fills the world.
