1 January 2025 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

Eighth Candle of Hanukkah

„And if a person comes to innovate lofty matters in the affairs of repentance in this time, and does not look to the revealed End and the shining light of salvation, he will not be able to direct anything to the truth of the Torah of truth. For each time shines according to its own nature.”From Igrot III, 378

The ability to illumine, to advance, and to improve our world is bound up with the dimension of time. We must connect to the life and the world in which we live in order to be partners in repairing the world. One who does not understand that the difficulties and challenges in our world are part of the advancement of the world, part of the ability to rise to a higher place, will always react from a low place and fight every challenge instead of using it and rising through it. This is true in the education of children, in society, and in every challenge that crosses our path.
