„The love of Israel, and the work of advocacy on behalf of the whole and of the individuals, is not merely emotional work alone, but a great discipline within the Torah, a deep and broad wisdom of many branches, all of which grow and draw from the sap of the dew of the light of the Torah of loving-kindness.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, II, 15

The love of Israel and the need to find merit in the people of Israel as a nation and in the children of Israel as individuals is not merely a matter for emotional work detached from the intellect.

Within the outlook of finding merit there are very deep teachings that flow from a Torah of loving-kindness.

Part of this outlook is the very capacity to raise a person, through a good thought, to a higher and better place in a real way. And just as this is true of an individual, so it is true of society as a whole and of the entire world.

Have a good day.
