„The love of creatures must be alive in the heart and in the soul - the love of every human being in particular. And the love of all the peoples, desiring their elevation and their spiritual and material flourishing. And hatred must be only toward the wickedness and the filth in the world.”From Middot HaRe'iyah, 5

We must know how to discern between hatred of a person and hatred of evil.

Our world is the world of the Holy One, and His creatures were created in the image of God.

But in this world there is evil, and evil must be denounced and destroyed. Yet we must beware and always remember the distinction between the need to love every person and the need to hate evil and wickedness.

This is indeed complex and includes within it both the hatred of wickedness and the longing that must be within us for peace.
