„In order to awaken the holiness hidden in the souls of Israel, after the dust of the sin of the calf had covered them, the remedy was the distancing of the Tent of Meeting from the camp, so that the inner longing for the light of the Lord would come forth into actuality.”From Ein Ayah, Berachot 334
In this week's portion we continue to deal with the technical aspect of building the Tabernacle, its vessels, and the creation of the "new home" for the Holy One. Rav Kook explains the fact that the Tent of Meeting was outside the camp, which required effort and a need to go out and walk specifically in order to reach it. And these things, in my humble opinion, are also connected to the fact that after the sin of the calf the people sought something tangible alongside their spiritual service. Moses our teacher understands the need, and alongside the shattering of the tablets and the immense break that occurred among the people of Israel, he builds a tangible tier for the people's service.
