We Are All Guilty
„I do not know who is guilty. Better to say: we are all guilty.”From LeShever Bat Ami
Almost 80 years ago, in the year the Rav passed away, he published an article, "LeShever Bat Ami" ("For the Shattering of My People"), about the conflict between the right and the left of that time. The climax was an assembly that was violently dispersed because of the tension between the factions. In the closing of the article he testifies of himself that he is "crushed and broken." In the article the Rav expands on the immense difficulty he felt toward the outlooks he found problematic, but above all, he writes that the greatest shattering of all is the war of brothers and the division that exists. "Let up, I pray; learn to look upon one another... with the eyes of compassionate brothers."
