Just Do Not Sink
„One who sinks into sorrow lowers himself to the severe impurity of the dead, the father of the fathers of impurity.”From Shemonah Kevatzim 7:17
We are marking 30 days since the Black Sabbath. In the face of a hard reality we sometimes want to cease — to stop everything and sink. This is the most understandable thing in the world, the most human thing in the world. But this is the meaning of a living dead. If we sink and cease ourselves, we enter into depression and sadness, from which we may reach the depths. The ability to prevail and to make the pain cease lies precisely in action — in treatment, in listening to our needs, and in the wondrous capacity for recovery that exists in humanity. Do not cease! Do not stop! The victory over darkness is in light, not in sinking into darkness, even when it seems like the most natural thing in the world.
