Sukkot and Joy

„The sukkah is a very supernal joy, so much so that it cannot be permanent, but only temporary.”From Shemonah Kevatzim 2:212

The reality of the sukkah is a temporary reality, a joy caused by the very fact that we step out for a moment from reality, leaving for a moment the home and the troubles of daily life for a life of nature, without worry, "renewing our days as of old." There is a place to go out at times, a place to stop the chase and look around — we learn this from the festival of Sukkot, a joy of stopping, a joy of ignoring for a moment all that surrounds us and entering beneath the wings of nature and beneath the wings of the Divine Presence. However, we must remember that this is a temporary reality, and that a complete reality is built layer by layer, slowly, through true labor. At the same time, sometimes the way to arrive at a complete reality is through the ability to let go.
