Mishpetei HaRav Kook / Parashat Chukat

„There is no way whatsoever to subdue them by means of suppression, but only to elevate and exalt them, and to show before them the path of the lofty and mighty light.”From Ma'amar HaDor

In this week's Torah portion we learn about the chok (decree) of the Torah — about matters that are wondrous beyond human understanding and come as an unbreakable law from above. Alongside this basic need — to understand that there is something above us — our generation has the opposite law: the need to explain and make the Torah accessible to the generation. Ours is a wise and deep generation, one that kicks and demands to know at any cost. And the Rav instructs us to embrace this demand: to impart knowledge, to deepen, to explain, to connect.
