Mishpetei HaRav Kook / Independence Day

„The anticipation of salvation is the sustaining power of exilic Judaism, and the Judaism of the Land of Israel is the salvation itself.”From Orot I

In our generation we have merited to see, eye to eye, the Lord's return to Zion. We have merited that the prayer of all the generations has been fulfilled and that we live in the Land of Israel. We have a flourishing state, a strong army, values, faith, and Torah. *The anticipation* is the thing that gave the people of Israel their strength in exile. And now, when, God willing, we have returned to our land after 2,000 years of anticipation, the realization has come — and it stands as a new test: the ability to understand the meaning of the salvation, and the ability to rejoice in it within the routine of life, day after day. At times it is easier to long from afar, and our task, 75 years into our state's independence, is to realize our love.
