„Charity must be directed toward the purpose of helping the poor perso…”
„Charity must be directed toward the purpose of helping the poor person in the present, and even more, of looking out for the improvement of his situation in the future.”From Ein Ayah, Pe'ah 1:4
Our ability to go out of ourselves and to remove our masks expands on Purim. Not only within ourselves, but also toward the other, through the commandments of the day: *The reading of the Megillah* gives hope of going out from a difficult reality. *Mishloach manot* (sending portions) enables us to think of our neighbors and relatives and to embrace them with food. *The Purim feast* brings us joy. *"Gifts to the poor"* enables us to lift our eyes and to see the needy and the weakened in society. The purpose of the commandment of charity is not only the local treatment of the weak and the poor, but also the creation of a social environment that lifts up such people. Happy Purim!
