Mishpetei HaRav Kook / Shabbat Shemot
„And if he finds within himself such defects and blemishes that do not befit his good name, let him know that the essence of his name depends on the innate quality of his soul from the standpoint of its own essence... even though...”From Shemonah Kevatzim III, 353
The "crown" of a good name is the most important of crowns — our name, what is spoken of us in the world. And at times our name becomes corrupted, and as part of the repair we desire, we must connect to the inner essence within us — to return to the source of good and to the power of good that we can bring to the world, and to return to our own selfhood, to the source of our name. "And these are the names."
*20 years since the accursed Shabbat in Otniel, in which four of my friends were murdered: Tzvika Ziman, Gavriel Chuter, Noam Apter, and Yehuda Bamberger. May these words be for the elevation of their souls.
