Mishpetei HaRav Kook / The Eighth Candle of Chanukah

„The essence of blessing is the blessing of peace. And it will be fulfilled in the future, when it becomes clear to all that all the luminaries, in all their particularity, are all one candle.”From Olat Re'iyah I, 435

Why do we bless "to kindle the *candle* of Chanukah" and not "*candles*"? The wording "to kindle a candle" comes from the kindling of the candles in the Temple, and the Rav explains that this statement signifies that in the end, all the hues and all the colors within holiness are part of one great light — despite the difference and the uniqueness of each side. Let us remember that all the lights, and all who wish to shine in the way of the Lord, are part of one great and mighty light of Judaism.
