Mishpetei HaRav Kook / 'A Life of Wealth and Honor'
„There is a wealth that takes away the true honor from its owner, since it removes his heart from the true perfection, for his heart is lifted up.”From Ein Ayah, Berachot 2:35
Honor, in its true form, is a lofty way in which a person relates to the world and the world relates to him. One who relates to himself with repugnant loftiness, on account of his money or his possessions, causes a lack of honor in the world. "Who is wealthy? One who rejoices in his portion" is not only a statement of comfort to one who has no possessions, but also a way of life for one whose money is in his pocket. The more whole, joyful, and honored we become, the less we will pursue imagined honor and pride. A life of wealth and honor.
