10 November 2022 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

Parashat Vayera

„The gate is the divinity revealed in the world in all its beauty and splendor — in every spirit and soul, in every living thing and creeping thing, in every plant and flower, in every nation and kingdom, in the sea and its waves.”From Tzimaon LeEl Chai

This week's Torah portion opens with Avraham's commandment of hospitality. In general, Avraham Avinu's understanding that the world has a Creator, and the establishment of the monotheistic conception at its basis, is a looking-around us. To the question of the existence of a Creator of the world, one need only open one's eyes and ask, who created these? Nature and its creations, man and the wondrous machine that has no equal, the heavenly bodies and the earth. Faith at its basis begins with the ability to see the sights of God around us. "And the Lord appeared to him."
