Routine and Renewal

„The appearance that comes to a person, by which he senses creation not as something already finished and made, but as something that is always coming into being, ascending, developing, and rising — this is what elevates him from beneath the sun to above the sun, from a place where there is nothing new to a place where there is nothing old, where everything is renewed, where the joy of heaven and earth exists within him as on the day they were created.”From Shemonah Kevatzim IV, 127

Our capacity for renewal stems from a supreme outlook that we must cultivate for ourselves (or with which we have been blessed). It is in our hands to decide how the routine of our day and our life will appear — whether as a never-ending routine that makes our lives dizzying, or as a new page opening each day and gladdening the heart.
