„Prepare for the day of celebration commemorating the first fruits, which shall be on the day of Isru Chag, after midday... But the holy festival day itself, the day of the first fruits, shall be for you, as for all Israel, a day of rest, a holy convocation, and the joy of the Lord shall be your strength.”From Letter to Nahalal
Anyone who grew up in the labor settlements in the past (and in some places even today) knows that the bringing of the first fruits (in commemoration of the first fruits) on Shavuot is one of the most moving and central ceremonies. In a letter that Rav Kook wrote to Nahalal in 1933, he supports the important idea of "commemorating the first fruits," but implores the members of the settlement to devote to it the day after Shavuot, Isru Chag — and not to desecrate the festival itself. To connect past, present, and future without harming holiness and tradition.
