4 April 2012 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

„Tzafun — when, in the correct composition, the intellect and the inne…”

„Tzafun — when, in the correct composition, the intellect and the inner feeling build a person's happiness, one must always know that even though...”

A person cannot manage without his intellect; there is no possibility of building edifices only upon feeling, and the importance of the intellect is many times more important.

These things are said at the beginning of a person's path and before he has built the level of feeling within him. When a person succeeds in building his feeling, and in internalizing, with an understanding than which none is deeper and with feeling, the things usually built upon the intellect, he acquires for himself a most profound place that does not require intellectual proofs and understandings, but is built upon the depths of feeling.

There is a very fine line between this deep inner feeling and false feelings, and we must be very careful of this. But together with this, it seems to me, in my humble opinion, that we must aspire to this level and to deep feelings that will encode within us what is stated in the book...

In the afikoman, which from the standpoint of understanding we do not need, there is this quality: there is no need for it from the standpoint of hunger, and it gives us nothing. But from a deep inner standpoint there is in the afikoman a statement that there are things deeper than our understanding, built from a depth of connection and from a depth of understanding that only a person's heart and soul comprehend.

Have a pleasant rest of the day, everyone!

For the success of the Jews of Hebron!
