„I must speak much about myself. The matters of my own selfhood must be clarified to me very greatly. In understanding myself, I will understand everything, the world and life, until understanding reaches the source of life.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, VII, 189
When a person understands himself and is truly connected to himself, the ability to contain and understand the world grows and develops.
In this passage the Rav speaks of his personal development; precisely from his own individual point he succeeds in connecting to the collective. Precisely from within personal pain there is the ability to contain collective pain.
A person who is aware of himself will be aware of his fellow. "And you shall love your neighbor as yourself"!
A pleasant day to all!
For the recovery of Meir ben Simcha.
