6 January 2012 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

„On the eve of the holy Shabbat one must engage in repentance for all…”

„On the eve of the holy Shabbat one must engage in repentance for all the past of the weekdays, in order to receive the holiness of Shabbat without any hindrance from any matter of sin and iniquity.”From Orot HaTeshuvah, 14, 33

On the eve of Shabbat, the air already carries with it that tranquility which will soon descend upon us.

In order to receive this great light, we must stop for a moment before Shabbat, to try to think about how we receive it from a true place, how the weekdays that passed remain behind us with their corruption, and how the goodness of those days brings upon us a holier and more serene Shabbat. May we merit to receive the pleasantness of Shabbat!

Shabbat Shalom!
