„A song for the conclusion of Shabbat”

„A song for the conclusion of Shabbat”

The fruit of his spirit, saturated with pure faith:

Elijah the Prophet / by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaCohen Kook

1.

My heart and my innards shall rejoice,

My blood and my fat shall exult,

And my standing shall be raised and lifted up,

When the lion and the young lion awaken,

And the God of my father shall bring to me

Elijah the Prophet,

Elijah the Prophet.

2.

And my innermost being shall be filled with consolations,

And joy shall make fat my bones,

And from Zion shall come my comforts,

For my evening shall be turned to dawn,

And the God of my father shall bring to me

Elijah the Prophet,

Elijah the Prophet.

3.

And from exile He shall proclaim freedom to me,

And from darkness I shall come forth to light,

And from a land of gloom to the mountain of myrrh,

And to the height of the mountains from the depths of the pit,

And a herald of good shall put to flight all my sorrows,

And the God of my father shall bring to me

Elijah the Prophet,

Elijah the Prophet.

4.

And my scattered children from the crossings

Shall be gathered together into flocks,

And shall sing atop the mountains,

To gather all the dispersed

To the land of my fig and my vine,

And the God of my father shall bring to me

Elijah the Prophet,

Elijah the Prophet.

5.

And to withered hearts, a spirit of life,

And to wilted blossoms, dew of heaven,

And to despairing souls, a world at noon,

Now shall arise from Judah and Jerusalem

To gladden the heart of my youth and my captivity,

And the God of my father shall bring to me

Elijah the Prophet,

Elijah the Prophet.

6.

And the weak and downtrodden shall be filled with might,

And a fallen booth shall become a fortified wall,

And the wretched of soul shall be girded with joy,

And to Israel it shall be said: Awake, awake!

And my heart shall return, and blossom, and live,

And the God of my father shall bring to me

Elijah the Prophet,

Elijah the Prophet.

A good week!
