16 December 2011 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

„The content of the mundane is nothing but a veil that conceals, worki…”

„The content of the mundane is nothing but a veil that conceals, working a mystery over all the radiances of light of the lovely and beloved life, which from the pleasantness of God stream forth and flow within the fullness of worlds, within the fullness of souls, and within the fullness of our life within. Holiness comes in its appointed time and removes the veil, uncovers the covered face, and the holy light in all its delights is now seen, and it warms our hearts with the pleasantness of its converse, quenches us with contentment from the abundance of its delights, and we delight in God and in His goodness, and our heart is filled with exaltedness and delight, with a saturation of pleasures; then you shall delight in God.”From Igrot III, 35

The weekdays are full, and we are so busy with them that we do not succeed in listening to life. When Shabbat comes, it gives us the possibility of removing from ourselves all the heaviness of the weekdays, of stopping for a moment the flood of work, of turning off the phone, of listening to the family, of giving a little real time to ourselves. We must recognize the precious gift of Shabbat and guard it with utmost care.

Shabbat Shalom!
