Rav Kook knew how to distinguish between Israel and the nations on the one hand, yet understood that the people of Israel stands in a deep bond with humanity and that there is a responsibility toward humanity. One must know how to distinguish between a mistaken conception of hatred and the deep meaning of the people of Israel, which is understood as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
