„That which one learns, and that which one prays, and that which one e…”
„That which one learns, and that which one prays, and that which one engages in for the settlement of the world - whether in the things necessary for man and for creatures for their minimal survival, or in the things that broaden a person's mind and improve his life - all rises into a single bond, into a single unit, to complete the general mending of the entire world, and to bring it ever closer to the ideal goal that is sought: to make life good and worthy, and more fit to be bound in an eternal bond, in the bond of holiness, in the bond of everlasting joy, in the bond of the most delightful delights, in the bond of radiance and supernal light, in the light of the Life of the Worlds, who knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, VI, 46
The great purpose of study, prayer, the commandments, and daily deeds is a good and worthy life. A life bound to the Holy One from a place of goodness. This purpose must be before the eyes of every servant of God. When the purpose is not achieved and our service of God does not lead us to a better place, it is worth stopping and checking what we are not doing properly.
