12 March 2026 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

Parashat Vayakhel-Pekudei

„The holiness of the times reveals the supernal good; from the source of the thanksgiving of the Shabbat everything is drawn, from the good of giving thanks to God... A person takes lights of joy and greatness and scatters them into the depths and the darknesses, and there they give light, and gladden a multitude of creatures without end.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 523

This week's Torah portion opens with Shabbat. The holiness and might of Shabbat receives great power precisely in our generation, a generation of technology and high-tech. In days when the six days of work are full of labor, devices, and screens, Shabbat gives us the possibility to return to the Source and to our roots. To relax, to rest, to gather together as a family and as individuals. To be. Shabbat is the weekly festival in which we celebrate our very being. We turn off the distractions and give thanks for all the good that there is. Shabbat Shalom!
