Rosh Chodesh Adar
„We are too greatly perfumed by external imaginings, and because of this, we do not feel the truth of our own inwardness.”From Iggeret HaPurim
Today we mark and celebrate Rosh Chodesh Adar, of which it is said, when it enters, we increase in joy. Rav Kook speaks in the Iggeret HaPurim about the importance of sometimes disconnecting in order to truly feel. The daily madness may confuse us and cause us hard thoughts about ourselves and about the world. We analyze, we imagine, we fear, and from there the possibility of falling into difficult places is short... The place of drinking on Purim, of the intoxication, is the ability to allow ourselves, once a year, to disconnect. And from this disconnection to receive vitality and a great truth that will accompany us onward.
