Do Not Halt the Prayer
„And even if a person has in his hands such sins that, in his own opinion, are among the things that hinder repentance or prayer, let him not delay on account of this, neither from repentance nor from prayer.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, I 438
The enemy of the very good is the excellent. And perfectionism is liable to topple us even in spirituality. We are all human beings, and if every time we discover depths within us we decide to shatter everything, we will not be able to sustain a world. Even when it seems to a person that his sins hinder him, even when he is convinced that he has no right to stand in prayer, precisely then he must continue. Not seldom we judge ourselves harshly, and at times a terrible thing we did is an opening to an even greater mending. Despair does not advance us.
