Candle 8
„The victory was not only the rescue of our soil, the rescue of our bodies, but also the rescue of our spirit and our soul.”From Ma'amarei HaRe'iyah, 476
Judaism constantly poses the question of the holy and the mundane and the relationship between them. We see this in daily life, in the holiness of the land, and in the sanctification of the joining between the book and the sword - the Sefer and the Sayif. Spiritual study and physical existence in all its ways. The Rav emphasizes that our strength in physical victory is part of the victory of the spirit. A body that succeeds in being rescued and in rescuing continues the strength of the spirit and lifts the spirit up. And the spirit gives the body its values and its reasons for victory. And above all, these are interwoven with one another as a single organism.
