7 December 2025 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

„Let a person's heart not fall within him if he cannot immerse himself…”

„Let a person's heart not fall within him if he cannot immerse himself in any particular field, and even if he cannot delve deeply and broadly into one matter, one system, or one area of study; for at times his particular nature is precisely to bring the distant near, to unite and gather scattered letters... and let him rejoice in his portion.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, V:153

If you do not find yourself in a particular field, if you cannot focus on the place where you are better and you scatter yourself again and again, if your attention is in dozens of places at once, Rav Kook says that this is your trait. The ability to be in everything. Today the world grasps a little more this understanding that Rav Kook gave about a hundred years ago. This trait, in which a person spreads across many domains, can be a gift. If a person knows how to make use of it, he will be able to develop through its blessings, and through this sensory richness to develop and advance the entire world.
