The Amikam Tribe

„And a generation shall arise and live, it shall sing to beauty and life, and delight without end, it shall suckle from the dew of the heavens.”From Lachashei HaHavayah

Last night, with the conclusion of the Shabbat Irgun of the Bnei Akiva movement, the new tribe was given the name "Amikam," and alongside it were brought the words of Rav Kook from the poem "Lachashei HaHavayah" (Whispers of Being). In the poem, the Rav describes a delicate movement of the soul: the world itself turns to a person and asks whether his heart is open to beauty, to tenderness and to vitality. When the heart is pure and upright, nature inspires and awakens holy song, but when the heart is extinguished or distant, even great beauty does not touch, and Being seems to tell a person that he still cannot receive its gifts. And out of this comes the great prophecy of the Rav: a new generation that will arise, a generation that responds to beauty, that listens to the world, that knows how to see the good hidden within life. Whoever looks at the youth today sees exactly this. A generation that seeks meaning, depth and genuine emotion, a generation that suckles tenderness and vitality as from the dew of the heavens, and the more it awakens, the more the world itself opens to it. Sometimes its demand is complex to other eyes, but its demand is life!
