The Break That Brings Life
„All the worldly talents that were absorbed into Israel, and every awakening of life from the cause of every trouble and from the impulse of every ray of light, all will bind together to give birth to new and strengthened forces.”From Orot, Yisrael veTechiyato 22
There are hard and terrible moments in life. Moments of personal or national or international pain. Rav Kook's vision is not a naive vision of ignoring the difficulty, but precisely the opposite: he sees in every crisis, in every pain, a hidden source of strength. All that we have absorbed from the world, from the past, from the pain, from wars and from illnesses, binds together and gives birth to new, tempered forces. This idea is woven throughout his whole approach: the soul knows how to turn a break into growth, exile into redemption, fear into light. It is difficult to the point of impossible to see this in the midst of the difficulty, but in its depth this conception proves itself again and again to be true. And above all, it gives strength.
