Parashot Tazria-Metzora

„That the foundation of the Torah of God which is with us is that it is entirely full of laws of life, and is called a Torah of life.”From Ein Ayah, Shabbat 25

The portions of Tazria-Metzora, like other portions in the book of Leviticus, deal with the lower strata of life. With wounds. With transgressions. Seemingly, why in such a holy place do we occupy ourselves with repugnant matters? Why, at the height of the Sabbath in the synagogues, must we read for long minutes earthly and unpleasant matters? Rather, the secret of the Torah is its connection to all parts of life. Not sweeping under the rug, but confronting and advancing. A Torah of life.
