Parashat Ki Tisa and Purim

„On this day forever the shadows shall flee.”From The essay “La'asot Purim”

In yesterday's class we undertook a study of the concept of “eternity” in Rav Kook's writings and its connection to a joy that is not dependent on anything. We explained that joy in its essence is not an act that marks a story from the past, but creates satisfaction from its very essence and being.

This explains the “fleeing of the shadows” on Purim. On the festival of joy, the festival on which we received optimism, we can succeed more, because in our very joy we advance the world toward a better place. The festival of Purim is a day of special quality, a day of joy, a day on which we will advance further steps out of the intensity of our strength, out of the intensity of the history and tradition that we possess. Out of greatness.

On the eve of the Sabbath on which we read of the sin of the Golden Calf, let us remember that optimism and joy have the power to repair everything. Happy Purim!
