The Uniqueness of the Festival of Purim
„The illumination of Purim is exceedingly great, and a great holiness shines through it in the world – and it appears that because of this, from above, a person is then guarded from any corruption, since he is engaged in the joy of Purim.”From Olat Re'iyah 439
There are many dangers on Purim, a festival that includes, among other things, the matter of drinking to intoxication. The Rav explains that precisely because the matter comes from a place of holiness, there is a special light of Purim that also guards us from the extremes and the problematic things. This, of course, does not contradict the need to pay attention and not to overdo it, and also to make the Purim celebration age-appropriate and content-appropriate so that it will be fitting and right.
