Rav Kook's conception of the Jew in the Land of Israel is one of his principal disputes with Haredi Judaism. Rav Kook wrote again and again about the importance of health and sport and the importance of the status of the physical, as a vessel that holds its content. The need of a holy person to be healthy and strong, the view of the Jew of the Land of Israel as one who possesses holiness alongside health and strength, is a foundation for redemption and a foundation for the ability to rebuild a healthy society.
