Body and Soul

„The human being is an organic creature; the powers of his body cleave and are bound to one another, and the powers of his soul are bound to one another.”From Olat Re'iyah, 390

Medicine today already recognizes the unbreakable connection between body and soul. What was once the province of the few has today become common knowledge. The Rav said these things more than 100 years ago. A child who eats healthily and whose every meal is carefully monitored but who is not joyful will not be healthy. A person who does not move his body and is only joyful will not be healthy. There is a tight connection between our need to nourish our body and our need to nourish our soul. The golden path in this is balance, and the need to view each case on its own terms.
