13 September 2013 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

„Dear friends,”

„Dear friends,”

I wish for us all that our prayers be accepted with favor and that it be a fast that raises us to higher and better places, personally and generally.

Please note, especially because of the heat we will have in the coming days, it is important to emphasize: the fast is the primary commandment of Yom Kippur, and is far weightier than the obligation of prayer, and certainly than prayer in a minyan. Therefore, one who, if he lies down at home, would be able to fast, but who, if he goes to the synagogue, would become weak and dehydrated and be forced to eat or drink, should stay at home and not go out.

Below are the times of the entrance and exit of the fast:

Fast begins Tel Aviv 18:28

Fast ends Tel Aviv 19:24

Fast begins Jerusalem 18:12

Fast ends Jerusalem 19:23

Fast begins Haifa 18:18

Fast ends Haifa 19:23

Fast begins Beer Sheva 18:26

Fast ends Beer Sheva 19:23

Let us pray for the recovery of all the people of Israel, and I would be glad if whoever is able would add the sick:

Roza bat Buba

Nadav ben Tova

Naftali ben Yocheved

Among all the other sick of Israel (you are invited to write additional names in the comments).

May you be sealed for good.
