Sukkot

„And all of Israel become worthy to sit in one sukkah.”From Ma'amrei HaRe'iyah, Sukkot

After the Days of Awe, in which we connected to the root of our soul and the desire to cleave to the good became more tangible, the festival of Sukkot arrives. This nearness – between the desire to be purified and sanctified, and a festival whose material commandments are found in the fabric of its days and nights: in eating, in sleeping, in joy – succeeds in bringing under its wing the different hues of the people of Israel, and all of Israel become worthy to sit in one sukkah. The Rav explains in the essay that in going out to the sukkah we free ourselves from the illusions that our private property gives us, and in the very act of going out to a total simplicity, to temporary thatch and walls, we can connect to the whole of Israel.
